Both of the vehicles come from the same brand brings a huge dilemma for the consumers. Maruti Suzuki’s ready-to-launch model Fronx was first displayed at the 2023 Auto-Expo. Though the Fronx crossover was largely overshadowed by the show stealer 5-door Jimny. Eventually, Maruti Suzuki Fronx caught the eyes of Indian consumers quite well resulting in a huge number of bookings ahead of the launch. The Fronx can be booked for the amount of Rs 11,000 and currently has a waiting period of up to 15 months in Delhi. Whereas the Brezza can also be booked with an amount of Rs 11,000 and currently sees up to 5 months of waiting period in Delhi. Stay along to learn more about the intriguing Sibling war -Maruti Suzuki Fronx vs Brezza.
CROSSOVER VS SUV
Dimensions and Exteriors
According to the trends and average spending, the sub 4m compact vehicles are very hot in the country and the brand has two separate offerings in the segment. The Maruti Suzuki Brezza is designed as a sub 4m compact SUV and the all-new Fronx is a sub 4m crossover. The laws constrain the vehicles to be of the same length and similar dimensions. Talking about other dimensions, Fronx has a longer wheelbase of 20mm and the Brezza is slightly larger in width, height and ground clearance. For precise figures please refer to the below table.
The Brazza was made as a butch boxier SUV resembling largely the Range Rovers with masculine lines and a clamshell bonnet. Meanwhile, Fronx is more fluidic based on the underpinnings of the Baleno and with the distinctive nose of the bigger Grand Vitara. The styling is similar on the sides of the vehicles with the body claddings and squared wheel arches.
If a slightly sloping roof at the rear makes a vehicle coupe then the Maruti Suzuki Fronx is a coupe-styled crossover. The slope caused a 10L less boot space than the foundation Baleno and 20L less than the upright Brezza. In fact, the GNCAP 4-star rated Maruti Suzuki Brezza is also much heavier than the up-and-coming Maruti Suzuki Fronx because of the superior global C platform. Neither the latest Baleno nor the Fronx has been crash tested yet. Considering the safety concerns the manufacturer might bring 6 airbags standard for both the vehicles instead of exclusive for the top variants.
Interiors
The insides are a continuation of the exterior design philosophy, Brezza has a more straight edgy interior and Fronx has a curvy flowing inner part. The Maruti Suzuki Brezza wears black and brown while Fronx has a fancier black and burgundy colour scheme for the interiors. The seating positions will be a major differentiator between the crossover and SUV. The Brezza has a more chair-like higher seating position compared to the Fronx. Due to taller stands, Brezza will be also somewhat easier for ingress and egress.
ENGINES AND FEATURES
The Brezza only gets a 1.5L K15C naturally aspirated petrol engine which churns out 102PS of power and 136.8NM of torque. The Fronx is supplied with two varieties of engine options, a 1.2L K12 naturally aspirated petrol engine and a 1.0L turbo petrol engine. The former is good for 88BHP with 136NM of torque and the latter yields a punchier 99BHP with 147.6NM of torque. Besides, the pair can have the convenience of an automatic transmission with both engine options. With the bits of help from the turbo, the much smaller capacity engine delivers 10.8NM more torque than the Brezza’s engine.
The turbo is making its comeback after the short-lived Baleno RS, which was the first and only car equipped with a turbo petrol engine from the brand. Nowadays the replacement for displacement is widely popular because of the reasons like tax reductions. Back in the day, the Baleno RS was equipped with rear disc brakes but sadly it has not been brought up to new offerings from the automaker.
Fortunately, with time we have other things for us in the latest Brezza and brand-new Fronx. Huge equipment list of Heads up display, 360-degree camera, 9-inch touch screen, Arkamys audio system, wireless phone charger, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, paddle shifters, etc are offered in both cars. The Brezza slightly pushes forward in terms of features like a sunroof and ambient lighting, which might be the deciding factors for some of the audience.
