There’s a lot of buzz about Ford’s potential return to India in the automotive world lately. Even though they left in 2021, they’re doing a lot of things that make it seem like they’re getting ready to come back. They’re maintaining their factories, registering trademarks for their products, and hiring new engineers. And guess what? They’ve just filed a trademark for a new mid-size SUV called the Ford Territory. This shows that Ford is serious about coming back to India and being a big part of the car scene here again.
if this SUV comes to India, it’ll sit below the Ford Everest and compete with popular models like the Tata Harrier, Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV700, and MG Hector. It’s already well-liked in countries like China, South Africa, Mexico, and Vietnam. The Ford Territory is expected to be launched in India by 2025.
Exterior:
The Ford Territory has a classy design, especially its front look. It has C-shaped LED daytime running lights and a honeycomb-style grille. The headlights are split designed and placed on the bumper. With an overall length of approximately 4600 mm and a wheelbase measuring around 2700 mm, the Territory offers ample space and proportionate dimensions. At the rear, the SUV features C-shaped taillights that mirror the design language of the front end. Additionally, it is adorned with a spoiler and a diffuser, further enhancing its aerodynamic profile and adding a touch of sportiness to its overall appearance.
Interior:
Inside the Ford Territory, you’ll find a design that follows Ford’s style, looking clean and modern. It has two big screens, each 12.3 inches, one for Instrument and Other for showing things like speed and navigation. The seats are powered adjustable and covered in soft leather, making them super comfortable. Plus, there’s a Panoramic sunroof, multiple colour ambient light, and a premium sound system with eight speakers.
When it comes to safety, the Ford Territory is really well-equipped. It has multiple airbags and ADAS with features like Blind Spot Information System (BLIS), Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Forward Collision Warning with Pedestrian Detection, and Lane Keep Assist. All of these features are there to make sure passengers are protected on the road.
Engine & Transmission:
One option for the Ford Territory’s engine could be a 1.8-liter turbocharged petrol engine. This engine produces about 185 HP and 318 NM of torque. All that power goes to the front wheels, and the transmission could be a 7-speed dual-clutch one. Additionally, the international version of the Territory has four driving modes: Normal, Eco, Sport, and Mountain.
Verdict:
Ford is coming back to India with a clear plan. They’re bringing back the Endeavour SUV and also aiming to compete in the more affordable SUV market. The good thing is, they already have successful SUV models from other countries that they can introduce here. So, they’re ready to take on the big players in India’s SUV market.
